Green Mobility is one of the four central investment themes of Greencode Ventures.
We are looking at the green transition of mobility from various perspectives and industries as well as verticals. 25% of the Global Greenhouse Gas emissions in the EU are contributed by the transportation and mobility sector. To reduce this is a key aspect of Green Transition. As Greencode Ventures, we are convinced that the shift towards electrification is inevitable, and happening. This shift will be accelerated with software solutions and is in need of such acceleration. Let us consider the end user experience at a public charging station along highways, the difficulties to pay with a credit card or getting information about the state of operation or the state of the facilities, this need for acceleration, digitalisation and customer centricity is obvious. The International Energy Agency (IEA) in its EV outlook 2022 stipulated that EV charging infrastructure is still the single most important growth barrier for e-mobility. At Greencode, we are not only looking at the electrification of light duty vehicles, we include heavy duty, the marine and aviation ecosystem, too. Megawatt charging for commercial trucks and fleets as recently introduced by the CharIn organization is an interesting approach. At the same time EV fleet operators are in desperate need for fleet management solutions taking the specifics of a commercial fleet into account.
Insurance and financial digital solutions will have a crucial impact on the adoption and development of green mobility. Usage based insurance models incentivising ecological and sustainable consumer behavior, payment solutions at the point of interest or accessibility solutions are among the products and solutions, we are very much interested in our Green Mobility investment theme.
In our understanding of Green mobility, transportation, supply chain and logistics are essential parts of the future green mobility ecosystem. Consequently, we are looking at the challenges companies are facing in their supply chains due to ESG transparency requirements. Integrated transportation and mobility offerings are established if we look at micro mobility. But the integration of individual and public transportation with a focus on enabling a green mode of transportation is still not available beyond small projects and pilot installations.
A final area of interest in the Green Mobility theme is Space. Especially satellite technology, images and derived data are significant enablers for the green transition. Routing and navigation applications, location-based services and even carbon tracking solutions for transportation on land, sea and air can greatly benefit from satellite technologies.
At Greencode, we invest in solutions with the clear aim to reduce GHG of the transportation sector in the next decade by utilizing new digitally enabled approaches and solutions.
