Why we invested in ZeroMission
The challenge: Transportation contributes to around 25% of EU´s CO2 emissions. Electrification of heavy road transport is key for the green transition of road transportation. Operating an electric fleet is challenging. Vehicles' state of charge, range, and operation depend on numerous factors and can change based on external conditions (e.g., weather) and internal factors (e.g., driver behavior). Operators must consider all these variables for planning, scheduling, operations, and reporting of the fleet.
The solution: This is where ZeroMission comes into play. The company facilitates zero-emission vehicle adoption through a data-driven and intelligent end-to-end solution for heavy vehicle fleet management, encompassing planning, operation, and reporting, with seamless integration to other fleet stakeholders, including non-electric vehicles. This makes ZeroMission the only holistic and modern fleet management solution geared towards the electric future of transportation.
Founded in 2022 by senior experts and leaders from the industry, Zeromission has already acquired significant customers among the private and public transportation operators in Europe and the US. And the market opportunity is vast; projected growth goes from approximately 600,000 electric trucks and buses in 2022 to over 9 million vehicles by 2030.
The pioneering team: The ZeroMission team is truly impressive. Led by female CEO Leah O'Dwyer, the team boasts over 30 years of experience at the forefront of electromobility, power-energy infrastructure, and software development in leading companies such as Chargepoint. The team consists of pioneers in the electric vehicle industry from both commercial and engineering perspectives.
Impact at its core: ZeroMission’s ability and focus on accelerating the green transition have been vital for our decision to invest. The company contributes to several UN Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. Going forward, we will track ZeroMission's sustainability results and have agreed on concrete, business-driving sustainability KPIs.
