Spun out of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Lumoview is located in Berlin and Cologne and led by Dr. Silvan Siegrist, Dr. Arne Tiddens, and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bernhard Hoffschmidt. The company's flagship product, the LumoScanner, captures complete 3D spatial and thermal data of indoor environments in seconds. Unlike traditional LiDAR systems, Lumoview's solution is portable, affordable, and easy to operate—enabling professionals and non-experts alike to scan buildings at scale.
Their proprietary software platform automatically processes this data in the cloud, delivering outputs like 3D CAD models, thermal maps, floor plans and more—all integrated into industry-standard platforms. This automation reduces cost and turnaround time for building assessments, a critical bottleneck in large-scale renovation and energy transition efforts.
There are over 220 million buildings in Europe, and 85% were built before 2001—making them largely energy-inefficient. Yet, only 1% are renovated each year. In response, the EU is investing heavily in regulatory frameworks like the Renovation Wave and the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), aiming to double renovation rates by 2030 and reduce building emissions, which currently account for 36% of EU-wide CO2 output.
To meet these targets, the market needs rapid, scalable solutions that can generate reliable building data for energy consultants and renovators—exactly where Lumoview delivers but with the potential to go beyond. Lumoview's end-to-end digitization technology positions it to become vital infrastructure for Europe's building transformation, spanning renovation, facility management, and smart building operations.
